Del Tin swords are generally very good but at $300 and up I don't think they are cheap.

For rapier combat I'd go with Hanwei. For live steel sidesword, I'd say none of them, as most replicas are not made to withstand that sort of punishment. I'd probably go with Paul Binns in that case.

i would use it for live steel side sword re-enactment. do you know any American based sword maker? or any sites in America that sell Paul Binns swords.

To invest in a sword is always going to cost money. A nice midclass sword is going to outlast a cheap one and is going to give you much more pleasure. Benny Moore started a topic along these lines a while ago: http://netsword.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002619.html

I have a few Windlass that I am happy with for reenactment purposes. As well the classic medieval sword I have had on my site did me well for learning the basics. Once you get a feel & decide to get involved in more Western Martial arts, you will want to upgrade your sword. Shoot an email to support@usableweapons.com to see what kind of deal my assistant can give you (not sure if they can as every item on the site is on sale until the end of Febuary).

Again for a starter sword I wouldn't complain about the Classic Medieval Sword, but if you decide to get really involved in swordsmanship, you will want to get into more pricey weapons.

I have a few swords, some are aexpensive,( albion Meyer) some are not (valiant/Gus Trim I beam Trainer and Hanwie/Tinker Blunts), For your money, the Gus Trim blunt is your best bet, It holds up to my Albion without getting beat to crap and handles pretty good too.
