Oh ho ho, well Garex I would recommend you do not even try. Sahrpening a katana is not that easy, let alone polishing it. Katanas, authentic ones any way, usually are not hollow ground, make for a think back bone to the edge, this can make sharpening difficult due to the fact that the ridge plains straight dow to the edge, making it kard not to leave scratches below the blade. basically the angling of the blade is problamitic. besides that, polishing sword of Japanese origin is not as simple as getting a buffing wheel. No, Japanese swords are polished by a professional polisher, a man who has apoprenticed for many years to lear this art. He uses various stones and fine abrasive powders to bring out the luster and sheen of the sword, while expertly going from more to less abrasive compounds, making the scrathes so fine that you do not see them but the blades characteristics. This is not something someone can really teach themselves, and there is no tool kit that I know if. There is a reason that Japanese swords can cost a $100 dollars per inch to polish, often more. Don't try it yourself, or you will ruin a good Katana. Hope this helps. Take care IP: 206.66.221.141 |
